SCOPE
The GLNG Santos upstream facility had three failed joint sections on a parallel 4000A 400V resin-encapsulated bus duct system that required installation and repair. To install the new bus duct, six joints and three bus duct sections had to be deconstructed and replaced.
It’s crucial to deconstruct the jointing plates with utmost care as the bus duct contains Refractive Ceramic Fibers (RCF) and Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS). All personnel involved in the deconstruction works are provided with powered air-assisted BA PPE.
The damaged sections were removed, and the joint plates were deconstructed. AULDEC ensured precise placement of new sections within 1% tolerance for correct alignment and joint stress reduction. The height of the switchgear and MCC termination box at the Train 1 Compressor Substation was modified to comply with this tolerance.
AULDEC successfully installed both bus duct sections without any injuries or exposure of RCF/RCS to personnel within the site. Upon completion, all quality assurance documents were provided to GLNG Santos to ensure safe energisation.
